Karen Miskell is currently pursuing a DMA in Choral Music at the University of Southern California where she is the senior teaching assistant and assistant to the Thornton Chamber Singers. Karen received a MM in choral conducting from Northern Arizona University in 2013; while there, she directed the University Singers and was the accompanist for the Shrine of the Ages Choir.
She received her Bachelor of MusicEducation from the University of Miami in 2005. During her undergraduate studies, shespent a summer semester abroad, studying as an accompanist in UM’s summer opera program in Salzburg, Austria. In between her BM and MM degrees, Karen taught choral music for two years at Bailey MS, followed by four years at Centennial HS in Las Vegas, Nevada.
While in Las Vegas, Karen served as the Clark County High School HonorChoir Chairperson and as a member of the Nevada Music Educators Association All State High School Choir Committee. Karen has accompanied for the CCSD High School Honor Choir, NMEA All State High School Honor Choir, both regional and national ACDA conventions, and many other choir programs in the Las Vegas, Flagstaff, and now Southern California areas. She is an active accompanist, soprano soloist, and choral clinician/adjudicator.
